Whippoorwill Hill

Whippoorwill Farm is a 200-acre farm, purchased over 40 years ago by the current owners’ parents. The Farm remains the center of gravity for the extended family, including the parents’ children and grandchildren, who make regular pilgrimages from across the country for weekends, family celebrations, vacations and holidays. When the family decided on a renovation, their primary concern was to expand the kitchen and ground-floor living areas, increase the number of bedrooms and upgrade the bathrooms. Of equal importance, however, was the family’s wish to minimize ongoing maintenance and repair requirements. That way, they could make the most of their limited time together.

We designed a single, two-story addition for a ground floor master suite, added various bays, dormers, etc. and repositioned interior walls throughout the house to achieve the family’s goals. We also selected a variety of exterior roof, siding, exterior siding/trim, window and door materials that stand up well to conditions of extreme heat and cold, with minimal upkeep.
